Brothers Len and Kevin Thomson own and operate Paradise
Island Foods Inc.
|
Paradise Island Foods was
founded in 1978, by George Thomson, as a one man operation warehousing
confectionery and sweets from a home-based business. Circumstances
provided a new market opening, with a regional supply shortage
of domestic cheese product. Instantly recognizing an opportunity,
George launched Paradise Island Foods into the dairy market
and established the foundation of what Paradise Island Foods is
today.
The family run business has evolved into a 37,000 square
foot manufacturing and warehousing facility, operating a fleet
of semi-trailers and developing a nationwide distribution network.
Service to Retail and Commercial clientele has also grown to include:
custom packaging and co-packaging solutions, custom manufactured
products, hundreds of specialty cheeses, brand-name distributed
products, dairy alternative products, and more.
Paradise Island Foods was also one of the first
dairy facilities in BC to achieve HACCP recognition with
CFIA (Canadian Food Inspection Agency). In addition, numerous other
food audits are done on the Paradise Island facility on an annual
basis, consistently resulting in excellent quality scores. Paradise
Island Foods are also an organic certified food facility.
2005 marked the company’s
25th anniversary and purchase of the company by George's
two sons, Len and Kevin Thomson. This successful transition has
allowed Len and Kevin to apply their years of experience in the
food industry to continue Paradise Island’s winning traditions in their new roles as
:
